In recent times, Bournemouth has established an enviable reputation worldwide for its vibrant year-round calendar of free festivals. Planes, Wheels, food and drink, music and the arts… the town boasts a diverse array of landmark events, with a thriving cultural scene that draws visitors from around the globe. Just minutes from the town centre and beaches, the Orchid Hotel is ideally placed to get the most out of everything that’s going in the town throughout the year.
“The Orchid was a brilliant base for the Air Festival. Walking distance from the beach and town centre, we were able to avoid the traffic altogether and enjoy the whole of the event from start to finish.”

The Bournemouth Air Festival
The largest free event of its kind in the world, the Bournemouth Air Festival in August has become a landmark event for the town. From the iconic Red Arrows to some of the world’s most powerful fighter jets, from World War II fly-pasts to edge-of-the-seat aerobatics, the festival has drawn more than 7 million people to the resort since its launch in 2008. And, with the action focussed on a flight path between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, the Orchid is just five minutes’ walk from a grandstand vantage point.
